Why Life Satisfaction & Quality of Life Coaching?

According to the growing current body of research on happiness and life satisfaction, there is new emphasis on the enhancement of people’s Quality of Life as being a major goal for therapy and coaching. Furthermore, according to the research in the areas of Subjective-Well-Being (SWB) and Positive Psychology (PP), the inner experience of satisfaction and contentment foster people’s sense of confidence and self-esteem, enhance optimism, increase physical and mental well-being. Further more, it greatly influences and increases self-efficacy, enhances relational competence and sociability, boosts positive life-energy, creativity and motivation, emotional competence and resilience, as well as enhances effective coping skills. Ultimately culminating in greater satisfaction in personal, relational, spiritual and professional life.

As a certified life-coach, a humanistically-oriented clinical psychologist and an educator, I recognize that in order for my clients to maintain forward movement and prevent relapse, it is necessary to not only support them with problems with daily living, but to also to assist them in designing and living a life of optimal satisfaction, contentment and happiness.

Fostering better quality of life, which is a central goal of all therapy and Life Satisfaction Coaching, will help clients develop resilience to better deal with the challenges of life, and ultimately promote an overall sense of satisfaction and contentment. I strongly adhere to Positive Psychology principles and practice, which emphasizes human happiness, life- satisfaction and contentment, and the fulfillment of valued goals in significant areas of life.

Evidence of the value of Life Satisfaction & Quality of Life Coaching comes from my life’s work with people struggling with addiction and recovery and seeking relief from problems of living. In my work both as a coach and a psychologist, I have realized time and again that a significant component of my clients’ experience of well being and a successful recovery process meant, not just dealing with the miseries of life and/or addiction, although basic necessary initial prerequisites.  The experience of satisfaction and well-being which helped my clients stay sober was the result of fostering emotional competence, positivism, building on their  strengths and personal resources, and developing contentment in subjective valued areas of their life. These became central and crucial conditions for relapse-prevention and for the overall resilience of their recovery process.

In summary: Life Satisfaction & Quality of Life Coaching assists and empowers people to identify, construct and achieve their valued life goals. Building on both their existing recognized strengths, personal skills and resources, as well as  developing new life skills, will ultimately help people narrow the gap between what they want and what they have, and by that gain an increased sense of mastery and control over their lives as well as boost their overall quality of life.
